Surprisingly, but there was an article which explains that there are numerous ways of getting worms which invade your brain, including eating pork. This was published in the CNN news.
Helena Helmby from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine says that there are many types of tapeworm, three of which can infect the brain immediately. She added that there is one particular form of tape worm people should watch out for, that is the pork tape worm, the main brain one.
Humans can be infected by the pork species, known as Taenia Solium, in two forms. The first form is teaniasis – an adult worm residing in the intestine. You can get this kind of worm by eating undercooked pork from infected pigs. The second, is the larval form of form, which enters the nervous system, including the brain, and can result in a condition called neurocysticercosis. You can get this kind of worm through contact with the feces of an infected pig or human.
Although unpleasant to hear, but it is one sad truth the pork we consume contains worms which can invade your brain. It is highly appreciated that CNN brought this information to the public’s attention. Everyone can see it as headline breaking news!
